Vehicle cracks utility pole on Mundy Pond Road in St. John's

A Newfoundland Power employee examines a cracked utility pole on Mundy Pond Road at the lunch hour. The pole was cracked off after a motorist apparently backed into the pole. The motorist was not injured but the road in the area Topsail Road and Alderberry Lane will be closed until repairs can be made to the pole.

A vehicle struck and cracked a utility pole on Mundy Pond Road in St. John's late Saturday morning.

According to an official at the scene, a motorist backed into the pole. The driver was not injured.

A portion of the road was closed to traffic on Saturday to give Newfoundland Power personnel space to handle repairs.

Members of the St. John's Regional Fire Department and the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary responded to the incident.
