Two-year-old boy dead following drowning incident

A two-year-old boy died Sunday, believed to be from drowning, Ferryland RCMP said today.

The RCMP says it responded to a sudden death on the Witless Bay Line, near Witless Bay, where the body of the two-year-old boy was found in a pond near a camping area.

Attempts to revive the child by emergency medical personnel were unsuccessful.

The matter is still under investigation.

The name of the child is not being released at the request of the family.

      I know the family personally. I come from a small community and we are so tight nit from being a small community and I am so sad and shocked and I can't believe it. I am so sorry for your loss and my heart is weeping for you and my sympathies and condolences are going out to you all.
