A family of four is temporarily homeless after a fire Sunday evening destroyed their two-storey house in Ferryland, the Canadian Red Cross said today.

There were no injuries and no immediate word on the cause of the fire.

The woman and three children are staying with relatives for now.

Canadian Red Cross disaster volunteers on Monday assisted the family with emergency purchases including food, clothes, blankets and personal-care items.

Ferryland is about 70 kilometres from St. John's on the southern shore of the Avalon Peninsula.
