Air France emergency landing in St. John's

An Air France Boeing 777 has landed safely at St. John's International Airport after declaring an emergency.

The plane was travelling from Paris to New York, with 281 passengers on board when it declared the emergency. There are unconfirmed reports that there were technical problems in the aircraft.

The airport's emergency plan was activated. An airport emergency response team responded, as well as the St. John's Regional Fire Department and Eastern Health paramedics.

The plane landed safely around 12:10 p.m.
