Conservation Corps Newfoundland and Labrador is $140,000 richer after receiving a grant from the provincial government.
Environment and Conservation Minister Tom Hedderson announced that the funds will be used for public education programs through the Climate Change Education Centre. The centre has been open since 2002 and reaches out to about 5,000 students every year, according to a news release.
“It is crucial to target young people and educate them now about the effects of climate change,” Terry McNeil, executive director for Conservation Corps Newfoundland and Labrador, said in the release. “Continued funding from the Department of Environment and Conservation will allow us to invest in these programs and help us to develop new tools to deliver this vital information throughout the province.”
