Trial dates set for pair accused of conspiring to escape Waterford Hospital

An accused murderer and another man will be subject to a four day trial to determine whether they are guilty of conspiring to escape from the Waterford Hospital in St. John's earlier this year.

Kenneth Green, 35, and Matthew Francis O'Quinn, 37, each face one count of conspiring to escape custody.

Green was not in court Thursday, though his lawyer was present on his behalf. O'Quinn appeared by videolink in St. John's provincial court.

Green is accused of killing Joey Whalen, who died in hospital on March 17, four days after he was assaulted inside a home on Tessier Place. Green was arrest the day after Whalen's death.

The four-day trial for both men on the charge of conspiring to escape custody is scheduled to take place Nov. 18-21.
