Alcohol, firearm seized from truck in Natuashish

RCMP in Natuashish seized a large quantity of alcohol and unsecured firearm from a pickup truck in the Labrador community Thursday.

According to the RCMP, officers observed four or five people running from the vehicle around 11:30 p.m. Thursday. Further investigation revealed the truck had been left running with a large amount of alcohol in it.

Natuashish is designated a “dry reserve” and the possession of alcohol within the reserve boundary's is in contravention of the Indian Act Bylaw.

 The seized alcohol included 28-(750 ml ) bottles of whiskey and 117 cans of beer. The matter is still under investigation.

    What a horrible, horrible story. Why would anyone take such a risk to smuggle in Coors Light and Budweiser??? Truly depraved.
