The defence lawyer for a sex offender accused of violating an order to stay away from children has received additional disclosure relevant to her client’s case.

John Ernest Jacobs, 44, was arrested on June 24 after he was allegedly spotted outside a Torbay daycare centre.

Jacobs appeared in St. John’s provincial court Friday by video link from Her Majesty’s Penitentiary. He is charged with breaching probation and unlawfully loitering.

Defence lawyer Tammy Drover said that in addition to recently receiving additional disclosure, she is also waiting to hear the Crown’s position on matters related to the case.

Jacobs was sentenced to six months in jail earlier this year for breaching probation.

He was spotted multiple times looking into the windows of a home where a five-year-old child lived and was accused of watching children sledding on a hill near Empire Avenue.

The matter is set to return to court on Oct. 11 for election. Jacobs has not applied for bail and remains in custody.

Will you get your bloody facts straight! The man was not arrested earlier this year and did not spend 6 months in jail...I only heard that he was looking in the window of a house once. These happened in late 2011! Make no wonder people think the worst...you need to get a new job!
