A 57-year-old Corner Brook man has been charged with weapons-related offences in relation to an incident which occurred on the city’s west side about 11 p.m. Sunday.
RNC officers responded to a call that a man with a firearm was threatening a 59-year-old woman inside a home on Stratton’s Road.
Upon police arrival, the female victim and her 28-year-old son had left the residence and were escorted to safety.
Several minutes later the accused came out unarmed and was taken into custody without incident. Both the accused and victim were known to one another and there were no injuries reported.
The accused is charged with assault with a weapon, careless use of a firearm, careless storage of a firearm, and pointing a firearm. He was detained at the Corner Brook detention centre to appear in provincial court later today.
