Inmate charged with breach of court orders

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary arrested a 44-year-old man Thursday for several breaches of court orders after being on a temporary absence from Her Majesty's Penitentiary. 

The accused was held in custody until a court appearance.

Also Thursday, as a result of a traffic stop, a 35-year-old man was given a seven-day driving suspension for operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol level above the legal limit.

As a result of a hit and run in the Penneywell Road area of St. John's, a 23-year-old man was charged with operating a vehicle with no insurance, having no valid driver's licence and operating an unregistered vehicle. The vehicle was impounded.

And, around 4 p.m. Thursday, members of RNC patrol division responded to a report of a possible impaired driver in the east end of St. John’s.

A 28-year-old man was stopped and it was learned that there was an outstanding arrest warrant on file for him. He was charged with several breaches of court orders, possession of stolen property, public mischief, and operating a vehicle while his ability was impaired.

He was detained in custody until a court appearance.
