Liberal leadership candidate Cathy Bennett says Thursday’s big oil development announcement represents a failure by Premier Kathy Dunderdale to manage growth and development in the province.
Bennett is worried about “project stacking” — essentially, it’s better to have one big project follow another for steady economic activity, instead of three big things happening at once, which risks a boom-and-bust cycle.
Letting plan slip
“The Energy Plan committed to pacing development to ensure maximized benefits and long-term growth, and the current government is letting people down by failing to deliver on that plan and putting our economic benefits and retaining youth at risk,” Bennett stated in a news release Friday.
“I hear it in every community I visit. People want to feel hope again, and know their premier cares, listens and will follow through on her plans — something our current provincial leadership has proven they cannot and will not deliver. And that is why people want change.”
