RNC investigating two vehicle collisions

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is investigating two vehicle accidents in St. John's overnight.


Around 10 p.m. Thursday, police responded to a two-vehicle collision at Monroe Street and Brazil Street.

The RNC says a west-bound car on Monroe Street failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a northbound taxi on Brazil Street. Two men in the taxi were injured.

One of the two females in the other vehicle was transported to hospital with an undisclosed injury.

The female driver was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with failing to stop at a stop sign, and operating a vehicle with no insurance.

At 3:20 a.m. this morning, patrol members responded to a two- vehicle hit and run collision at the intersection of Crosbie Road and Terra Nova Road in St John’s.

According to police, a black four-door vehicle was headed west, the wrong way on Terra Nova Road when it collided with a vehicle turning onto Terra Nova Road from Crosbie Road.

The black vehicle fled the scene before police arrived and was last seen turning west onto Freshwater Road from Crosbie Road. There were no injuries.
