A 26-year-old Nain man is facing a number of charges after he crashed into a police vehicle in the early hours of Sunday as he was trying to flee the RCMP
The RCMP, however, got the man.
About 2 a.m. Sunday, the RCMP observed a vehicle being driven in the community in a reckless and dangerous manner. There has also been complaints from the people in the community concerning the same vehicle.
As the RCMP attempted to get the vehicle to pull over, the vehicle hit the police vehicle in an attempt to get away. There were no injuries during the incident.
The accused was arrested and held in custody overnight. He was later released from custody on charges of impaired driving, dangerous driving and flight from police.
The accused will appear in provincial court Jan. 15.
Nain driver facing charges after failing to stop for police
RCMP in Nain charged a driver Sunday with impaired driving, dangerous operation of motor vehicle and failing to stop for police.
No court date has yet been set in the case.
In Natuashish, RCMP officers charged three residents with consumption and/or possession of alcohol in a “dry” community.
