Delegates attending the biennial convention of the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Public and Private Employees (NAPE) in St. John’s today took time to visit striking Labatt employees on the picket line at the plant on Leslie Street.

About 50 workers have been on strike since April 10. The workers are members of NAPE Local 7004.

The convention is being held at the Sheraton Hotel Newfoundland.

BULLYING at its worst. NAPE and the GOONS that they have to do this intimidating should be ashamed. They are a classless bunch of troublemakers that the general public do not want or need. They should be thankful that they have well paying jobs with exccellent benefits and go back to work. Scare tactics do not work anymore. I and a lot of others that I know have continued to support and will continue to support Labatt, the workers who are on the job and the products they produce. Nobody is going to be intimidated by a few NAPE GOONS and certainly not dictated to as to what products I can or cannot purchase. Keep making the Labatt beer and I will keep buying it. Don't give in to the union who are disrespectful of the needs and wants of others....those days are long gone.

What a bunch of thugs......just go back to work out of it and stop bothering me. I can tell you that I do not drink beer, but my wife likes it...so we have actually switched to Labatt's Lite (in cans) for the duration of the strike....once these creep realize that no one really cares, they will go back with their tail between their legs, and my wife will switch back to Coors Light. I mean, why would the union creeps think anyone cares..??..we all have our own jobs to worry about, and certainly have no sympathy for someone who would leave their job by their own choice...you don't like the job\pay, go find another job that you like and stop screaming in the streets like gang members. Better still, go to school out of it and get educated so you can pick and choose your job and pay, without having to harass other people complaining about your job. Even better still, the govt should take a page out of the book of what many US states are doing......enacting the "Right to Work" laws to control these money hungry union creeps. So just outlaw the unions and people, get back to work and take care of your families.

Rob- are you overpaid??? What if your medical benefits/pension or any other benefit you had was being taken back as of tomorrow? as of for unions how do you think the people are getting benefits they are getting now, such as vacation, maternity leave, the right to refuse unsafe work, OHS, Workers Compensation, Superannuation....list goes on. I urge you to watch the you tube video "what has the union ever done for us? Maybe you just need a little education before making such comments.
