The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary was involved in a brief police chase in St. John’s Thursday night after a traffic stop.
At 9:45 p.m. Thursday, officers attempted to stop a vehicle in the area of Columbus Drive and Old Penneywell Road.
The vehicle sped off and led police on a short pursuit at which point the 20-year-old suspect ran from the vehicle on foot in the area of New Penneywell Road.
He was apprehended shortly after by officers and charged with flight from police, resisting arrest, as well as three breaches of recognizance and three breaches of an undertaking.
He was also issued tickets under the Highway Traffic Act for having no driver’s licence and no registration, failing to transfer ownership, having no insurance, using a false sticker and having open liquor in a vehicle.
The vehicle was impounded and the man was held in custody until a court appearance.
