This government is quite adept at "gymnastics" already....that's how it can announce money for BS like this while simultaneously shutting the door on a potentially major economic driver like oil exploration....based on nothing but protests from the (quite literally) completely ignorant . A few votes bought...check. 'World class' idiocy.....check.

sounds wonderful! but if the Government has $700,000 to put in a sports and recreation facility, what happened to the budget crunch that required them to throw hundreds of civil servants out of work? jobs or recreation...which is more important?

Hey, Kathy Dunderdale? Why not balance the friggin' budget before you finance facilities that we do not need and the VAST majority of Newfs will never use?

This is wonderful news. Will this facility be built on the same site as the old one or a new location?

This is a great legacy project to attach oneself to. The Spartans mandated gymnastics after 5 years old. I'd like to see mount pearl shake 300000 out of their industries, and prov gov to do the same with our major employers of the end users moms and dads. It is a great project though, I applaud campia for its efforts and hope they will not be hindered by too much gov checks, and not enough balance. Build it and they might come, is not a popular meme in the glow of muskrat falls, however, in this case, this seems like a safe investment in the future that no mink farm could ever rival.

Obviously stompin tom does not understand that the mere pittance of 1.8 million to get kids active at a young age will save multi millions in health care costs down the road. nothing to do with popularity. The gov't is obligated to fund such facilities

So, she is trying to buy her way into popularity by spending dollars we apparently do not have anymore. Reminds of Stompin' Tom's song for the shoe Marketplace: "Yes we are the people, goin' through the race, buyin' up the bargains in the old marketplace. Another sale on somethin' we'll buy it while its hot - and SAVE a lot of money SPENDIN' MONEY WE DON'T GOT.
