Another driver tried to run from police after a traffic stop in St. John's Wednesday and was found to owe more than $30,000 in fines.
Around 2:50 p.m. Wednesday, Royal Newfoundland Constabulary officers attempted to stop a vehicle in the area of James Place in St. John’s.
The driver attempted to run from police but was apprehended by officers in the area of Blackmarsh Road and Columbus Drive.
He was charged with obstructing a police officer and issued tickets under the Highway Traffic Act for no insurance, no registration, driving with a suspended licence and failure to transfer ownership. The vehicle was impounded by the police and the man was conveyed to the city lockup to be held for court.
