Separate moose-vehicle collisions took place minutes apart in St. John’s early Friday evening.

According to the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary’s overnight report, the first accident happened on Thorburn Road near the Trans Canada Highway overpass at 5:43 p.m. A vehicle was heading towards St. Philip’s when it struck the moose.

Nobody in the vehicle was injured, but the moose was put down due to the extent of its injuries.

The second accident occurred less than 15 minutes later on Torbay Road north of Stavanger Drive. A vehicle traveling south struck a moose.

There were no injuries reported. Wildlife officials were contacted to deal with the injured moose.
