Garrett Drive connects the airport with Gander’s new business park.

The funding announcement was made today in Gander.

“This project is essential to the airport authority’s development of a 150-acre business park to meet growing demand in the region,” said Gary Vey, President and CEO of the Gander International Airport Authority.

“We are delighted government recognizes the importance airports play in our economy as strategic enabling infrastructure. Investments in transportation such as this one are repaid many times over.”

The Gander International Airport Authority is responsible for running the Gander Airport and its assets, as well as managing Gander’s Business Park.

“I am confident the rehabilitation of Garrett Drive will prove beneficial in improving the authority’s infrastructure and their ability to attract new business to the airport’s industrial park and the surrounding community,” Charlene Johnson, Minister of Innovation, Business and Rural Development, said in a news release.
