Candelight event marks 1989 killings
MUN student Jennifer Galland blows out a candle after lighting one of 14 candles in remembrance of the 14 women killed in the Montreal Ecole Polytechnique massacre on Dec. 6, 1989. The annual remembrance ceremony for the women was held in the MUN Engineering building with representatives of the university and various law enforcement agencies present. The names of the women killed were read aloud during the ceremony.

Students, law enforcement and university officials gathered Friday evening for an event to remember the 14 women killed in the shootings at L'Ecole Polytechnique in Montreal on Dec. 6, 1989. The event was held at MUN's engineering building. The names of the 14 women who were murdered were read aloud and candles lit in the memory.
