UPDATE: Two men assaulted with weapon in downtown St. John’s

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is investigating an assault with a weapon incident that happened in downtown St. John’s early Saturday morning.


According to police, a 21-year-old man sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries, while a 21-year-old man was less seriously injured. Both men were taken to hospital for treatment.

Police do not believe the victims were fighting with each other —  a detail pointing towards the involvement of a third party.

The incident happened near the intersection of Bishop’s Cove and Harbourside Drive shortly before 4 a.m. Police declined to identify the type of weapon involved.
