A Cormorant helicopter and a Hercules aircraft were dispatched to sea Monday evening to rescue an injured person aboard a fishing vessel.
According to a series of posts from Joint Task Force Atlantic’s official Twitter account, the vessel carrying the injured crew member was 370 nautical miles southeast of St. John’s.
The helicopter was still attempting the medical evacuation as of 9:30 p.m. The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Halifax also dispatched a 413 Hercules aircraft to the scene. Sea conditions were reportedly high at the time of the rescue attempt.
