RNC’s first explosive-detection dog retires from service

He may not have starred in multiple boxing movies, but this Rocky has had his share of battles as an active member of the RNC for seven years.

Police Service Dog Rocky is retiring, the RNC announced today.

The eight-and-half-year-old had been vital in numerous cases, including helping in the safe return of missing individuals to the apprehension of many criminals.

Rocky was also the RNC’s first explosives-detection dog.

Rocky’s grandson, Dyson, will now take over his duties.

Rocky’s last day at work included a visit with students at Topsail Elementary School in Conception Bay South.

Rocky will enjoy his retirement years in the care of his handler, Const. Russ Moores.
