Western Health is going to offer a program designed for parents and caregivers of children with anxiety issues early in the new year.
The three-week support and education group, titled “Beyond Worry,” will be aimed at helping families with children between the ages of five and 12.

Beginning in January, the program will cover topics such as anxiety, fear versus anxiety, anxiety disorders, introduction to cognitive behavioural therapy and parenting approaches to support children with anxiety.

Western Health is currently trying to determine the level of interest in holding weekly group sessions to discuss these issues. The start date of the program will depend on the consensus of the participants.

The program is being offered by Blomidon Place, an interagency counselling service that provides a range of support services for youth and their families with mental-health issues.

Anyone who would like more information is asked to call 634-4171.
