RNC investigating disturbance, bomb threat, assault cases

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary responded to 155 calls for service on the northeast Avalon between early Monday morning and Tuesday morning.


Among these calls, around 8 p.m. Monday, police responded to a disturbance on Alexander Street in St. John’s. A 30-year-old woman was charged with property damage and unlawfully being in a home. She was taken into custody until a court appearance.

At 1:45 p.m. Monday, RNC officers responded to a complaint of a bomb threat at a school in Mount Pearl.

The school was evacuated by staff and a search of the building was conducted with the assistance of RNC K-9 unit. There was nothing suspicious found and the investigation is ongoing.

At 4:25 p.m. Monday, a 31-year-old man was arrested in the centre of St. John’s for assault. 

The RNC says the arrest was as a result of an ongoing investigation. There were no injuries to the victim and the accused was released to appear in court at a later date.
