MV Flanders expected back on Bell Island run by Monday

The Department of Transportation and Works has announced an update following temporary ferry reassignments for Bell Island and St. Brendan’s as vessel mechanical repairs are completed.

The updates include the following:

MV Sound of Islay is finalizing repairs and expected to return to the Bell Island service by Sunday, Jan. 19. An earlier return is possible. MV Sound of Islay will relieve the MV Grace Sparkes and join the MV Galatea on the Bell Island run.

MV Grace Sparkes will then depart for St. Brendan’s. Service in St. Brendan’s is expected to resume by Monday, Jan. 20. Contingency helicopter service will then conclude.

MV Flanders is expected to return to the Bell Island service on Monday, Jan. 20.

MV Sound of Islay will then depart for Fogo Island-Change Islands to join MV Beaumont Hamel by Wednesday, Jan. 22.
