The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary responded to 127 calls for service between early Sunday morning and this morning.

In one incident Sunday night around 9:34 p.m., a police officer was assaulted after a call for assistance in the Elizabeth Avenue area of St. John’s.

The RNC said injuries to the officer were not reported to be serious. A man was arrested and charged with assaulting a police officer. He was held in custody until a court appearance.

Around 2:30 a.m. this morning, RNC officers conducted a traffic safety check in the east end of St. John’s and issued a roadside breathalyzer check to the driver, resulting in the  22-year-old woman being issued a seven day driving suspension for being impaired.

Around 12:34 p.m. Sunday, the RNC received a call regarding an alleged theft under $5,000 from a business  in the area of Blackmarsh Road.

As a result of the investigation, a 29-year-old woman was arrested and held at Her Majesty’s Lockup due to an outstanding warrant.  

After a traffic stop in the Old Placentia Road area around 10:20 p.m. Sunday, a 27-year-old woman was arrested and her vehicle impounded. The RNC said she was suspended from driving and owed more than $22,000 in fines.

 Also, around 1:30 p.m. Sunday, a 25-year-old driver was given a seven-day suspension for impaired driving after a traffic stop in the area of Centennial Square, Mount Pearl.
