Sheshatshiu woman in custody after domestic disturbance

A 48-year-old woman in Sheshatshiu was arrested early this morning and charged with assault with a weapon on her spouse.


Around 3:30 a.m., RCMP in the Labrador community received a report of a domestic disturbance at a home.

The woman was held in custody until a court appearance in Happy Valley-Goose Bay provincial court.

The RCMP said the victim didn't sustain any injuries and alcohol is believed to have been a factor in this assault.

Meanwhile, also in Sheshatshiu, a 25-year-old man who was arrested on New Year's Day for impaired operation of a vehicle and later released, is back before the courts again.

The man was arrested Monday around 3:15 p.m. after he was allegedly found driving a motor vehicle in the community of while being disqualified. He now faces charges of driving while disqualified, breach of court orders, and Highway Traffic Act offences.

 The man will be appearing in provincial court today.
