Two men reported missing since Tuesday night in Labrador were located safe today.

The men had been travelling between Happy Valley/Goose Bay and Rigolet on snowmobiles, having started the trip Tuesday morning.

About 8:45 a.m., today, the RCMP in Rigolet was advised the men had not arrived home.

Ground Search and Rescue Teams from Rigolet and Happy Valley/Goose Bay were alerted this morning.

The Goose Bay RCMP police plane located the two men a short time later, approximately 40 kilometres from Rigolet.

Weather conditions had deteriorated Tuesday during the trip and the two men stayed overnight in a cabin for safety until the weather improved. Neither man was injured and arrived safely in Rigolet just before lunchtime today.

Rigolet RCMP remind snowmobilers to use safe practices when they go out on trips.

They should ensure someone knows where you have gone and when you plan on returning, wear warm clothing and safety gear and, if possible, bring a satellite phone with you or a SPOT Device.
