Woman missing for more than a week

Police in the St. John’s metro area are still looking for tips concerning a woman who has been missing for more than a week.

Melissa Hayes, 24, was reported missing on Jan. 16, one day after she was last spotted in public.

Melissa Hayes, 24, was last seen on Jan. 15. Police have not indicated where this sighting took place.

A missing person report was filed the following day, and the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary made an initial plea for help from the public on Jan. 17. A second news release was issued Friday afternoon.

Police describe the missing woman as 5’9” and 120 pounds with brown eyes.

The RNC’s major crime unit is investigating Hayes’ disappearance. Anyone with information about where she might be located is asked to contact police at 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS and online at www.nlcrimestoppers.com.
