Corner Brook RNC investigating collision

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) in Corner Brook is investigating a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of O’Connell Drive and Mount Bernard Avenue this morning.

According to police, a car was travelling east on O’Connell Drive around 9:30 a.m. when it was struck by a pickup truck, travelling south on Mount Bernard Avenue. Both vehicles were attempting to make left turns at the time of the collision.

RNC officers, paramedics from Western Health and Reliable Ambulance, as well as the Corner Brook Fire Department responded.

A 39-year-old male driver, 33-year-old woman and four-year-old girl in the car were treated for what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries and released from hospital.

The 34-year-old man who was driving the pickup truck remains in hospital at this time.

The RNC said it's believed that alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the collision.The investigating is continuing and charges under the Highway Traffic Act are anticipated.
