The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary arrested a 42-year-old man in connection to a violent incident in St. John’s that left a woman seriously injured.
According to the RNC’s overnight report, the woman was taken to hospital following the violent encounter, which happened late Saturday night in the east end of St. John’s. Police did not indicate whether her injuries were life threatening.
The man is charged with assault with a weapon, aggravated assault, uttering threats to cause death, and resisting arrest. He was scheduled to appear in court Sunday morning. Police did not provide information on the nature of the weapon used to commit the assault.
