Alcohol, marijuana coming into Hopedale seized by RCMP

The RCMP in Hopedale say officers seized a quantity of alcohol and marijuana that was coming into the community Wednesday afternoon.

No charges have been laid and the investigation is continuing.

Seized were 35 (750 ml) bottles of Golden Wedding Whisky, 24 (750 ml) bottles of Royal Reserve Whisky and over 30 grams of marijuana.

The RCMP believe the alcohol was going to be sold illegally.

The RCMP in Hopedale, with assistance from the RCMP Street Level Drug Section in Happy Valley-Goose Bay and the general investigation section were involved in the seizure.

      You wouldn't believe the carnage this causes in northern communities. Trust me, I've lived there. No booze, no trouble, booze equals crime in Innu Communities.
