A 28-year-old man from Sheshatshiu was arrested Saturday for impaired operation of a motor vehicle after RCMP in the Labrador community stopped to check a vehicle that appeared to be stuck in snow at an intersection around 5 a.m..
According to the RCMP, the man was allegedly asleep at the wheel.
The accused will be appearing in provincial court at Happy Valley-Goose Bay on March 25 to face a charge of impaired driving and impaired driving with a blood alcohol level above the legal limit.
Also on Saturday, around 11:15 a.m., RCMP Traffic Services West and RCMP Goose Bay detachments stopped a man driving a snowmobile on Paddon Road.
The 55-year-old man from Happy Valley-Goose Bay was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and was later released. He will appear in provincial court in the town on April 6 to face a charge of impaired driving and driving with a blood alcohol level above the legal limit.
The RCMP would to remind the public that drinking and driving while operating a snowmobile carries the same penalties as operating any other vehicle.
