Missing NL woman’s family gathering in Halifax

The Nova Scotia Native Women’s Association has issued a statement on behalf of Loretta Saunders’ family - the Labrador woman who is missing from Halifax.

Loretta’s brother, Edmun, is now in Halifax with another sister. Together with family and volunteers, they are canvassing the city with the “Find Loretta Poster Campaign”.                 

Volunteers and community businesses have made donations of time, money and resources in helping the family since Loretta’s disappearance. 

“I went all my life thinking people were generally uncaring, until now. Now I can’t express how much kindness people have shown.“ Edmun said in the statement released by the association.

The parents of Loretta’s boyfriend who are from Turkey are applying for visa’s to travel to Canada to be with thier son and aid in any way they can.

The missing woman’s car was found in Ontario. Her roommates - Blake Leggette, 25, and Victoria Henneberry, 28 - have been charged with possession of the stolen vehicle and fraud related to the stealing and use of her bank card.

Loretta Saunders was reported missing on Monday, Feb. 17. She was last seen the Thursday before.
