RNC make arrests for thefts, disturbances

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary was busy Sunday with reports of thefts and disturbances in the St. John's-metro region.

A 33-year-old man was arrested Sunday and charged with assault and multiple breaches of court orders.

The arrest arose from a disturbance, reported around 6:44 a.m. Sunday in the centre of St. John's.

The accused was held in custody until a court appearance.

Around 6:45 p.m. RNC officers responded to a domestic disturbance at a Mount Pearl home. As a result a 58-year-old man was arrested and charged with four counts of assault. He was held in custody until a court appearance.

Around 7:57 a.m., RNC officers responded to a report of a suspicious person checking vehicles on Patrick Street in St. John's. A 20-year-old man was arrested and charged with two counts of theft under $5,000, two counts of possession of stolen property and public mischief. He was held in custody until a court appearance.

At 12:38 p.m., RNC officers responded to a reported theft at grocery store in the center of St. John’s . A 36-year-old man was charged with theft under $5,000 and breach of probation. He was released to appear in court at a later date.

At 4:20 p.m.,  officers responded to another reported theft at a grocery store in the west end of St. John’s. As a result, a 56-year-old woman was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000. She was released to appear in court at a later date.
