RCMP Const. Shawn Greene was charged Feb. 10 with perjury and obstruction of justice for alleged offences that took place while he was stationed at the RCMP Trinity Conception Detachment in Harbour Grace.

Greene is currently posted to Nova Scotia where he has been suspended with pay pending the outcome of court and internal proceedings.

A news release states only the charges stem from allegations made to the RCMP in May 2013.

An independent investigation into the complaint was conducted by Halifax Regional Police at the request of the RCMP.

Greene is due to appear at provincial court in Harbour Grace April 9.

I know that at least 3/4 of the members posted to the CBN RCMP Detachment are from NL. But no matter where they are from originally, they all enjoy this province and the people they serve.

The RCMP have very little respect in CBN. Problems here with the RCMP maybe is not all their fault - they are not from here, are only stationed here for a year or two and are gone and have no connection to this great Island. This is just a job/posting amongst people they do not know or care about and they will be gone in a year or so. WE need the RNC - they live here and stay here and care.

Suspended "with pay" while being charged with perjury and obstruction of justice ? And this is the RCMP ? Come on, give your head a shake. MPearson
