Please, the only thing a day of in February will give me is a full day of shovelling instead of the evening. I'd sooner a day in July or August.

I agree there should be a holiday in February. Every time there is talk of a new stat holiday or an increase in the minimum wage, the first thing is small businesses will suffer. Can someone tell me how much money Ontario businesses have lost since the Family Day holiday started? How many have gone out of business? Also, Ontario may get Family Day, but it doesn't get Remembrance Day because it is not a national holiday.

I think Employees would be more productive following a February Family Holiday. As stated in the article, and Business ,including small Businesses would see a noticable benefit. .As the article also says, it is along streach with no break from New years Day to Good Friday. I do recall the National Kinsmen Association, some years ago campaigned unsuccessfully for a National February Holiday called Heritage Day to coincide with their February Founding date. Perhaps this could now be revised as a Provincial Statutory Holiday.

Canadian workers are too unproductive as it is and they have too many paid holidays. This is nothing less than legalized theft. Workers in Bangladesh and Vietnam know the value of hard work and they don't have union bureaucrats to give them big ideas. Businesses can’t afford to give workers more paid time off as well as minimum wages. We are already being taxed and regulated to death and we don’t need labor bosses telling us how to run our businesses. Mind your own business – destroying the free market economy.
