A police chase in the Kelligrews area of Conception Bay South overnight Saturday ended with a vehicle in a ditch and a man's arrest.

A 29-year-old is facing charges of dangerous driving, flight from police, impaired driving, refusing the breathalyzer and breach of a court order. He is due to appear in a St. John's courtroom Sunday.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary first attempted to stop a westbound vehicle for a traffic infraction shortly before 3:30 a.m.

According to the overnight report, the vehicle was traveling fast on Route 60 and ran a red light as police attempted a pursuit.

A police dog assisted officers in locating the vehicle, which was found in a ditch on an entrance ramp to the C.B.S. Bypass Road.

Two men were apprehended, but only the 29-year-old was charged. Police said there were no injuries, though the vehicle was extensively damaged.
