Woman, 65, dead after being hit by vehicle in stormy conditions

The RCMP in Bay St. George is continuing to investigate the death of a 65-year-old woman who was hit by a vehicle in Stephenville Friday while she was walking along the street in white-out snow conditions.


The RCMP was called to the scene on Massachusetts Drive in Stephenville about 7 p.m. Friday.

The driver of the vehicle that hit the woman stopped and he and his passengers, as well as other motorists, offered assistance at the scene.

The woman was transported to the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville where she was pronounced dead.

Alcohol was not a factor in the collision and no charges are anticipated at this time.
