The city of St. John’s has issued an advisory for some residents in the Topsail Road area regarding the temporary loss of sanitary sewer service.
House numbers between 2-12 Topsail Rd. as well as 744 Water St. will be affected as crews work on the sanitary sewer pipe starting Wednesday at 9 a.m. and concluding Thursday at 2 a.m.
At this time home owners are asked to not flush their toilets, do laundry, wash dishes, or otherwise discharge water into the sanitary sewer. This is critical to the success of the sewer liner installation.
Portable toilets will be provided at every second home as an emergency facility for residents to use if required.
This process will affect each homeowner for a period of 12 to 16 hours and continue until completed.
When the homeowner can reuse the sanitary sewer, they will be advised immediately. There will be personnel on site at all times to answer any questions from home owners.
