The Department of Transportation and Works is advising that due to deteriorating ice conditions on the Bell Island tickle, the MV Beaumont Hamel is currently operating as conditions permit.

The second ferry, the MV Norcon Galatea, is tied up at Portugal Cove because of the ice conditions.

CHECK OUT this panorama shot.

If ice conditions become worse, the department says ice breaker assistance will be required from the Canadian Coast Guard.

The Department of Transportation and Works says it apologizes for any inconvenience to ferry users and appreciates their patience and co-operation during these adverse weather conditions.

Well my goodness! Where's the minister? I've seen him on TV that much recently, with his safety vest, safety glasses, safely boots and hard hat, making announcements on one thing and another. So much so I thought the PC's had their very own tribute band to the Village People! MHA McGrath being the construction worker of course. The bunch on the other side must surely be entitled to a free feed at Dicks's at the very least. If the government wants to really impress us, why don't they get MHA Brazil to go and get the empty beer bottles from the ones he traded for the computer upgrades and see what miracle he can work to get the ice breaker in here and keep the ferry moving. Maybe then he might apologize before some one else is appointed to the puppet strings. I think I finally get what this government runs on!

Time to either: A. Relocate everyone and Build a federal penitentiary over there and have it like Alcatraz. B. Build a bridge across there. Or C. Put a casino over there and have it as a tourist Attraction.

I like the way you think...A or B..I agree!...especially regards to a tourist attraction, "A" would probably work better than a C..not so much
