MUN student shoots for stars, wins scholarship

Anna O’Grady to do research at Yale this summer

Memorial University student Anna O’Grady will spend the summer at Yale University, studying the stars.

O’Grady, of Kilbride, is the recipient of the Hoffleit Undergraduate Astronomy Research Scholarship, which will see her working at Yale for six week during the summer.

O’Grady is in her second year at MUN, and is a joint physics and applied mathematics student.

According to MUN’s faculty of science, O’Grady will research star formation in the brightest galaxy clusters.

There were about 70 applicants for the scholarship, almost 30 per cent of them students at Oxford University in the U.K.
