Man charged with assault, forcible confinement

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary in Corner Brook has arrested and charged a 30-year-old man with assault and forcible confinement in connection with a disturbance at a home in the west side of the city.

RNC officers responded to the call around 8:45 p.m. Monday. A 23-year-old woman sustained what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries which did not require medical attention.

Police say the occupants of the home and suspect knew each other.

The suspect was held overnight at the Corner Brook Detention Centre and is scheduled to appear in provincial court later today.
