The event is being held at Cowan Heights Elementary in St. John’s as a fundraiser for Young Adult Cancer Canada.

Tyler didn’t know he would be the one to mark the milestone, said YACC’s executive director, Geoff Eaton.

The energy level is through the roof at the school as more than 70 children have their heads shaved.

Survivors, first-time shavers, students and family have filled the St. John's gymnasium as they eagerly await the final tally of how much money has been raised.

The Telegram will have more details when the event is over.
