The body of a man who went missing while ice fishing has been found in Hawco’s Pond, close to the Salmonier Line.
The RCMP, the Rovers, Avalon North and Central Avalon Ground Search and Rescue teams, and the Fire and Emergency Services Air unit searched for 48 hours before finding the remains of the 57-year-old.
The man failed to return home Wednesday evening after leaving to go ice fishing on the pond.
His name will not be released at the request of his family.
RCMP are thanking all who helped, including Cougar Helicopters, which was conducting training in the area and offered equipment and services. They are also thanking residents who opened their homes to officials and searchers.
