Police seek help in identifying armed robbery suspect

The RNC is requesting the public’s help to identify the person responsible for an armed robbery at the Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy on Topsail Road in St. John’s about 6 p.m. Monday.

The RNC says a male suspect armed with a weapon entered the store and demanded drugs before fleeing the scene. There were no injuries.

Investigating officers have determined that large quantities of prescription narcotics were stolen including Methadone HCI Powder which is potentially lethal if mixed incorrectly.

The RNC is concerned about the quantity and types of prescription drugs stolen and consider their potential availability on the street to be a public safety concern.

The male suspect is described as approximately 6’0” to 6’1”ft with a slim build.

At the time of the incident he was wearing black pants, black coat and a black hat. The suspect’s face was concealed.

Anyone who has information that would assist in identifying the person responsible or anyone that may have any information in relation to this crime is asked to contact the RNC at 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). You can now provide information anonymously on the NL Crime Stoppers website at  www.nlcrimestoppers.com.

The RNC is also issuing a reminder that any person in possession of stolen property can be charged.
