Woman arrested in connection with violent robbery

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) in Corner Brook has arrested a 37-year-old woman in connection with a robbery with violence in the area of Broadway in that city on the province's west coast.

On Tuesday, around 11:55 p.m., the RNC responded to a complaint of a robbery with violence in the area of Broadway near the 86er Pub.

An 82-year-old woman was walking home when she was approached by another woman who allegedly knocked her to the ground and stole her handbag.

The suspect ran from the area. The victim was transported to hospital for treatment of injuries which included a fractured upper arm.

The suspect, who was arrested Wednesday, has been held in custody for a court appearance today.


The RNC is continuing to investigate this incident and is seeking the assistance of the general public in obtaining any additional information.
