RNC officer struck by vehicle in attempt to make arrest

A Royal Newfoundland Constabulary officer was injured Monday night in Mount Pearl after being struck by a car driven by a woman being pursued for alleged shoplifting.

According to the RNC, officers responded to the shoplifting complaint from a Mount Pearl business around 6:20 p.m.

In pursuit of a female suspect  who was leaving the area, an RNC officer was struck by the suspects’ vehicle as he attempted to arrest her. The officer received minor injuries , was treated and released at hospital. A warrant has been issued for the suspect’s arrest.
