RCMP in Bay St. George seized 40 grams of marijuana and prescription pills from a vehicle Monday.

According to police, the value is estimated around $1,500. The prescription pills included 67 Tylenol 4 tablets, 60 Clonazepam tablets, 32 Valium tablets, nine Dilaudid 8 mg tablets and nine Dilaudid 4 mg tablets.

“Drug abuse of any kind is a serious health and social problem, said Cpl. Steve Henley, the RCMP team leader in Bay St. George. "Prescription drugs can be just as dangerous as street drugs. They can also lead to criminal charges.”

Henley said possession for the purpose of trafficking in illegal drugs and prescription medication continues to be a problem on the streets.

The RCMP says those who traffic in illicit and prescription drugs destroy lives, homes, and communities. The police force remains fully committed to enforcing laws against drugs to their fullest extent.
